1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and name (if provided). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.

Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you use the Service, including: pages viewed, jobs clicked, searches performed, filters applied, jobs saved and marked as applied, and session duration. This data is associated with a randomly generated visitor ID stored in your browser.

Device Information

We collect basic device information including screen resolution, timezone, language preference, and platform type. This is used to generate a non-identifying browser fingerprint for analytics purposes.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand traffic patterns and user behavior. GA4 may use cookies. We also maintain our own analytics system that tracks events without third-party cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to: provide and improve the Service; send email digests and job alerts (if you opt in); understand how users interact with the platform; identify and fix technical issues; generate aggregate analytics (e.g., total signups, popular searches).

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share anonymized, aggregate data (e.g., "500 users searched for analytics jobs this month") publicly or with partners. When you click "Apply Now," you leave SportsCareers and interact directly with the hiring organization's website — their privacy policy applies at that point.

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). Email delivery is handled by Resend. We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

5. Cookies & Tracking

We use localStorage and sessionStorage in your browser to maintain your session, track your visitor ID, and remember your preferences (saved jobs, applied jobs, streak count). Google Analytics may set its own cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not function properly.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your account and data; opt out of email communications at any time; disable analytics tracking by using browser privacy settings or ad blockers.

7. Children's Privacy

SportsCareers is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email.
