JOB SUMMARY:
The Manager of Youth Basketball plays a key role in expanding and enhancing the organization’s youth basketball initiatives. This position partners closely with Cavs Youth Sports team to deliver impactful programs, events, and community engagement efforts. The role supports day-to-day operations, leads on-court programming, and collaborates cross-functionally to drive participation, fan development, and revenue growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and coach youth basketball camps and clinics, with a focus on skill development and positive youth engagement across Northeast Ohio and surrounding markets.
- Support and execute on-court activations for community events, sales initiatives, and corporate partnership programs.
- Coordinate logistics for camps and clinics, including scheduling, equipment, staffing, and operational preparation.
- Serve as a liaison with sourcing and procurement to manage inventory and fulfillment of basketballs, apparel, and other program materials.
- Manage game-day activations, including kiosk scheduling and execution during the season.
- Build and maintain relationships with local youth organizations, facilities, and tournaments to grow participation and strengthen the youth database.
- Assist in managing coaching staff scheduling, communication, and payroll coordination.
- Support project management across timelines, event calendars, activation guides, inventory tracking, and database systems.
- Identify and support revenue-generating opportunities, including program participation and ticket sales integration.
- Manage internal creative requests and workflows.
- Conduct market research on NBA, WNBA, and comparable youth sports programs to inform innovation and program development.
- Maintain current knowledge of trends and best practices in youth sports programming and community engagement.
- Serve as a positive role model by promoting sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, and a strong culture of youth development.
- Champion equitable access to youth basketball opportunities, with an emphasis on engaging and developing girls and other underrepresented athletes.
- Integrate age-appropriate skill development and injury prevention principles, including neuromuscular training concepts, into on-court programming.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that builds confidence, leadership, and long-term athlete development.
- Support initiatives that create clear pathways for continued participation in sport, from grassroots entry points to advanced levels of play.
- Collaborate with community partners to expand outreach efforts and help reduce barriers to participation, including cost, access, and awareness.
- Contributes to building lifelong connections to the game by creating meaningful experiences for both athletes, young fans, and their families.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4+ years of experience in coaching, operations, or community engagement preferred.
- Experience working directly with girls ages 4-18 in a positive, youth‑development or athletic coaching environment.
- Service-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to youth development.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to take initiative and execute effectively.
- Adaptable and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment under deadlines and pressure.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel regionally as needed.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Ability to stand, walk, or run for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
